Develop your school leadership and management skills

Drawing from the expertise of UK school head teachers, the School Leadership Programme offers professional development for school heads in the areas of school leadership, management and administration, and provides access to international professional head teacher networks.

How does it work?

This School Leadership Programme is run in partnership with education authorities and is by invitation only. To find out how your state can take part, please contact Lynda Ashaolu.

Our success so far

Between 2010 and 2013, 1300 Nigerian school heads, district officials and zonal inspectors took part in short face-to-face leadership training programmes through the School Leadership Course.

In 2012, HSBC funded a pilot in which 18 Nigerian school heads worked with counterparts from UK schools to develop tools to help improve teaching and learning in schools, through the longer School Leadership Mentoring Programme.

I am more aware that the job of a principal goes beyond administration and is more about promoting learning in adults and students. In addition, I have walked away with standardised ways of assessing performance of staff. – Mrs Ogunsi, Principal, Keke Senior High School

The project brought exposure and an opportunity for cultural exchange. I’ve come to realise whether in Nigeria, UK or China, school heads face similar challenges. – Jane English, Principal, Paignton Community College
