Indianavon Dangaru has had the benefit of both the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms for Teachers and Business Acceleration Bootcamp.

Today she is the CEO of Abuja-based organisation Indie Educational Consult, which provides training for teachers, caregivers and parents tailored to meet the needs of children with a learning difference. The training equips teachers with the 21st-century approaches of therapies and classroom management in an inclusive school setting.

Connecting Classrooms is a global education programme for schools. It aims to help young people worldwide develop the knowledge, skills and values they need for life and work in a global economy. Connecting Classrooms is delivered by the British Council in partnership with the Department for International Development (DFID).

Says Indianovon: “The Connecting Classroom took place over a period of one year comprising of three modules. I learnt a lot about teaching critical thinking and core skills to both students and teachers. Our project was one of the best, as we explored the various ways to use the core skills in cultural diversity.”

The British Council Business Acceleration Bootcamp is for entrepreneurs in Nigeria with early-stage businesses (0 - 2years) looking to scale and/or to attract potential investment and support. The Bootcamp includes interactive workshops and mentor-led sessions delivered by Oxygen Startup, UK.

Oxygen Startups works with entrepreneurs across the globe at every stage of their startup journey – be that an individual with a great idea, to a fully formed high-growth company poised to receive investment. They provide a curriculum of expertise and support to enable individuals and companies to refine their ideas into successful high growth businesses.

“The Business Acceleration Bootcamp was like gaining an MBA in just a week! It gave me a broader understanding of entrepreneurship. My most memorable moment was the N1M grant given to my start-up to grow the business. It has given us access to make more success stories.”

For Indianovon, the Bootcamp has turned out to be a significant catalyst in her personal and business life. She explains why: “Wow! After attending the Business Acceleration Bootcamp, I have opened two other companies. Thank you to the British Council for being part of my success story. We love you!”
