Creative Cities

Creative Cities was created to boost the skills and capacity of current and intending cultural event managers in Abuja and Calabar enabling them to sustainably programme, market and fundraise for Arts and Culture events in their cities, ultimately growing arts and culture audiences. 

In December 2015 and January 2016, 50 Creative Events managers were trained in each of the two cities by Walk the Plank –  UK based Festival Managers. The skills learnt will boost the engagement of the trained cohort with their city festivals through collaboration and /or employment by the festivals and also increase diversity of Nigerian audiences and collaborators across major Nigerian Cities.

We have also awarded grants to 6 of the trained event managers in both cities following the strength of their proposals to hold high quality arts and culture programmes from September 2016 - February 2017.
