The British Council Nigeria administers exams on behalf of many universities, colleges and schools, both within and outside of the UK, making distance learning possible around the world.

How to book an exam with the British Council

You can book for an exam in three simple steps:

Confirm with your examination body/exam officer of your institution that you can sit for your exam with the British Council.
Send an email request to exams.nigeria@ng.britishcouncil.org stating the name of the institution, preferred date of exam and location (Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt). You will receive a confirmation within three days.
After you receive a booking confirmation, please make your payment within five days by bank transfer. See fees and payment section below for further details.

Attention all institution exam officers: if your institution will be paying the administrative charges, we will invoice you at the end of the exams. Please email exams.nigeria@ng.britishcouncil.org for further details.

Other and Non UK Institutions: Fees and payment

Institutions within the UK

British Council charges a fee of NGN46,521 per subject for administering your exams.

For Entrance Examinations into sixth form colleges and other UK schools, we will charge NGN 93,041.26 for 4 or more exam papers.

Institutions outside the UK

If your institution is outside the UK, the fee is NGN 93,041.26 per subject for administering your exams and for sending your scripts via courier to your institution.

Payment is made by bank transfer.

Important: you will not be allowed to sit an exam unless you have paid the fees.

What to bring to your exam

Please bring the following with you to your exam session:

identification such as ID book or passport
statement of entry
pens and pencils in a clear plastic bag
basic calculator

No electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones, are allowed to be taken into exams.

Results

Most universities will send your results directly to you. Please confirm this with your institution.

We are sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.
