We offer five qualifications to support your professional development in procurement and supply.

  • Certificate in procurement and supply operations

CIPS holds exams in international centres three times a year, May, July and November. 

For each of our qualifications you are required to complete five units. You will be required to join CIPS as a Student Member before you can enter for an exam.

Apply for CIPS membership

To become a member

  1. Download and complete a CIPS membership Application form (PDF, 113 KB).
  2. Download and complete a British Council CIPS Membership Subscription form (PDF, 114 KB).
  3. Pay the naira equivalent of the pound amount given by CIPS to the British Council via banker’s draft, drawn from any Nigerian bank, made out to ‘British Council’.
  4. Submit both forms and bank draft together at your nearest British Council office.

To renew your membership

  1. Download and complete a British Council CIPS Membership Subscription form (PDF, 114 KB).
  2. Pay the naira equivalent of the pound amount given by CIPS to the British Council via banker’s draft, drawn from any Nigerian bank, made out to ‘British Council’.
  3. Submit both forms and bank draft together at your nearest British Council office.

Important: your application will not be processed until payment has been received.

Register for an exam

When you have registered with the CIPS, you will be sent login details and details of the level of examination you should sit.

Candidates can register for  May, July or November exam by completing a CIPS exam form and submitting it to their nearest British Council office, alongside a British Council Examination Entry Form and a bank draft for the relevant amount, drawn from any Nigerian bank, made out to ‘British Council’. You can sit for the CIPS examinations with the British Council in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.

NOTICE TO APPLICANTS:

Due to operational reasons, we are unable to process bank transfer payment until further notice. All payment should be done with a bank draft issued in favour of British Council.

IPS will send you the statement of entry. If you do not receive the statement of entry form CIPS two weeks before the exam, please contact CIPS.

Your statement of entry will include your exam timetable.

How to make payments for membership and exams

Payment of membership and examination fees is by bank draft. We accept bank drafts drawn from any Nigerian bank, therefore you do not need bank account numbers to buy a bank draft. Please visit any Nigerian Bank and request to buy a bank draft in favour of British Council. Please refer to the price list below for the relevant fee(s).The venue for your exam will be confirmed on your statement of entry.

At the exam

Please bring the following with you to your exam session:

  • identification such as a valid International Passport or National ID Card
  • statement of entry
  • pens and pencils in a clear plastic bag
  • basic calculator

No electronic devices, e.g. mobile phones, are allowed to be taken into the exams.

Special Arrangements

CIPS has a responsibility to ensure all candidates have equal opportunities to reach their full potential. In some instances, candidates may require adjustments to the assessment process to give them an equal opportunity.

Applications for Reasonable Adjustments should be made at least eight weeks prior to the date of the examination or assessment.

Candidates may apply for Special Consideration in instances that could not possibly be predicted. Such applications must be made within 14 days of the date of the examination or assessment. This also applies to candidates wishing to report any incident which may have affected their examination or assessment performance.

The British Council and the examining boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. We are sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council’s liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or retesting at a later date.
